Congratulations to Ms. Jasmine Okoli - The 2016 FACE of Full Figured Fashion Week
Just as a phoenix arose from the burning ashes, Jasmine Okoli emerges with an empowerment that defies all adversity. Jasmine is the epitome of strength and shows that having the willpower and unwavering faith to keep pursuing your dreams does indeed pay off. Taught at an early age to strive for greatness by never settling, never quitting, and to always embrace her uniqueness and individuality, Jasmine Okoli is all woman.
A true southern belle, Jasmine was born and raised in Dallas, TX and currently resides in Chicago, IL with her husband of one year. Jasmine attended the University of Oklahoma where she held several leadership positions across multiple student organizations and graduated with honors in dual degrees of a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Pre-Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in African and African American Studies. While having a strong passion for serving her community and being the advocate of children and seniors, Jasmine is an active member involved in the Chicago Cares community service organization. Through this program, she regularly volunteers by visiting senior living homes and participating in the pet therapy division where she brings her dog to visit with patients in rehabilitation centers.
Because of her impeccable taste in fashion, photogenic personality, and flexing her artistic side by putting grand events together such as her wedding, Jasmine Okoli has also been featured by a number of prominent blogs including Black Bride, MunaLuchi Bride, Jane Deux, and Lulu Lopez Photography. She finds freedom in expressing herself through her wardrobe and loves to discover innovative ways to showcase her personality through her daily outfits.
Being a curvy woman is only a fraction of who Jasmine is. As a role model and health enthusiast, Jasmine encourages the younger generation of women to embrace their natural selves while still promoting a healthier lifestyle through diet and exercise.
When her father passed away from cancer in 2013, Jasmine found the courage to pursue her lifelong goal of becoming a model in the fashion industry. As an aspiring model, she is working towards perfecting her craft by continuing to be a student of the business and striving to work with the industry’s leading brands. She has a burning desire to break barriers, burst through glass ceilings, and challenge the status quo of what plus size women can be and what they can achieve. Through her steadfast determination Jasmine is committed to blazing a trail in the world of fashion by continuing to embody strength, sophistication, and the poise to not to conform to society’s standards of beauty.
