Jordan Tesfay is a Canadian model, actress, lawyer and entrepreneur.
She was born in Rome, Italy, on October 4, 1979, and is the daughter of Orthodox Christian immigrants from Asmara, Eritrea in East Africa. She moved to Canada when she was five years old. She attended Victoria High School of the Visual and Performing Arts in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. She then attended college at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where she received a degree in television broadcasting in hopes of becoming a news anchor.
At the age of 19, while attending college, and upon the encouragement of a friend, Jordan entered a model search contest in Mode Magazine. She was selected out of 25,000 entries as a semifinalist by Wilhelmina Models and was flown to New York City to meet the panel of Judges. She won this contest and was offered a contract with Wilhelmina Models.
Jordan is best known for being the first full-figured fashion model to become a COVERGIRL. She modeled in a national campaign for Canadian Retailer Addition-Elle in 2004 and then went on to model for companies such as Playtex, Levi’s, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Macy’s. Tesfay has also appeared on the cover of Plus Model Magazine in 2010 and was also featured in Vogue.
During her modeling career, Jordan spoke at the famous Bentonville, Arkansas Headquarters in front of Walmart executives, on behalf of the Playtex brand, and helped launch the 18 Hour bra line.
In addition to modeling, Jordan has appeared in movies such as Deception, opposite Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams and Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power, opposite Mario Van Peebles. Tesfay is a member of the SAG – Aftra Union.
Jordan, received a law degree in May of 2011 from the City University of New York.
More recently, Jordan is featured on Madison Plus Blog, Model off Duty. She has become a mother and is very passionate about sharing her experiences with women.
