Full Figured Fashion Week’s main sponsor this year is “Fit for Me” by Fruit of the Loom.
We caught up with Melissa Burgess, Senior Vice President of Brand Management for Fruit of the Loom to ask her a few questions about the brand and their partnership with FFFWeek, check it out!!.
1. Fit For Me by Fruit of the Loom is the premier sponsor of Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek) 2015, what made you decide to become part of this great event? Fruit of the Loom is all about the power of positive underwear. We make colorful, comfortable basics that fit well on your body and within your budget. When we decided to re-launch our Fit for Me line, which is designed specifically with the curvy woman in mind, we knew Full Figured Fashion Week was the perfect platform. Gwen and the Full Figured Fashion Week team are champions for the curvy community and we wholeheartedly support her message of female empowerment for women of all body types.
2. You have re-invented your products, what makes them different? Tell us about the new and improved Fit for Me products? We conducted focus groups with curvy women who told us that true comfort and fit were critical to a woman’s decision to wear a specific underwear brand. We listened to their feedback, which led us to update the Fit for Me line to include a plush waistband, softer fabric and improved fit that hugs full figured women in all the right places. The revamped collection includes a variety of prints and colors in various silhouettes to ensure that Fruit of the Loom continues to provide true comfort and fit for every woman.
3. We are excited that you are showcasing during FFFWeek, what can we expect to see on the runway? Our runway show will be filled with surprises! Now that the team has completed its cross-country castings, we are excited to meet the models. We will collaborate with the women walking in the Fit for Me show to find colors, patterns and looks that highlight their personalities and body types.
We are also working with celebrity stylist and fashion expert Denise Caldwell, who shares our mantra that every good outfit starts with good basics. She will be at all our Full Figured Fashion Week events to share fashion and beauty tips and to help attendees better flaunt their curve confidence. Catch our Full Figured Fashion Week show on Saturday, June 20, to see the Fit for Me models in action!
4. Your new campaign seems to embrace curvy women of all sizes, what is the message of the Fit For Me line? We understand that finding the right basics for the curvy woman can be a difficult, and often emotional, experience. We’ve worked hard to launch the new and improved Fit for Me collection that flatters her fit so she feels confident, beautiful and empowered inside and out.
5. Why is it so important for the Fit For Me by Fruit of the Loom brand to cater to the plus size market? More than 50% of American women purchase a dress size 16 or larger. This population makes up an extremely important margin of Fruit of the Loom customers. We always want to make sure we provide shoppers with basics that add to their daily wardrobes and make them feel good about their appearances. Fit for Me is available in dress sizes 16-32.
6. Besides undergarments would the Fit For Me line consider expanding in the future to include clothing such as dresses, pants and tops, etc.?
Yes, we are exploring other categories where Fit For Me can service the curvy consumer.
7. Finally, where can women buy the Fit For Me products? You can purchase Fit for Me at Walmart locations, in-store or online at Walmart.com, and learn more about Fit for Me on Facebook and Instagram. We’ll also be at many of the Full Figured Fashion Week events from June 14-20, so look out for opportunities to snag a free pack!
