Did you know?
-The first ever FFFWeek was held in NYC and it was only 4 days long. The first ever FFFWeek on the West Coast was held in Los Angeles and it’s official title was FFFWeek(end). Now the NYC event is 7 days long and there are hopes to bring an event back to the West Coast in the future.
-Since the introduction of the casting tour in 2012, thousands of models audition every year but only 50 actually make it into the show.
-The name of the event is Full Figured (hence the D at the end) Fashion Week, most people get it wrong.
-FFFWeek has a huge international following, in the past guests have come to NYC to attend the event from as far as: Germany, Australia, France, Puerto Rico and England just to name a few.
-The Face of FFFWeek was first introduced in 2010 and the first winner was Plus Model Teslyn Buttler.
-One of the most popular events held during FFFWeek is the all-white cruise. Ms. DeVoe has made it a tradition to stand at the door of the cruise ship and greet everyone that comes on board.
-FFFWeek’s founder Miss Gwen DeVoe, created the event after attending a New York Fashion Week show and seeing no plus size presentation on the show. She realized that although the clothes and the models were beautiful, she was not able to buy anything, not because she couldn’t afford it but because it didn’t come in her size.
-More than half of the FFFWeek Production Team members worked with DeVoe Signature Events for several years before the creation of FFFWeek, and most of them were freelance models.
-The night of the launch of the first FFFWeek was the night that performer Michael Jackson passed away. The event was just about to start when news of his death was released. Most of the confirmed media for the event cancelled because they were dispatched to the streets of the world to cover the story.
-On Saturday, June 18, 2010, The New York Times ran an article on FFFWeeek. Gwen DeVoe, EP of FFFWeek was aware that the story was running that day and left her hotel room at 5:45 AM to go to the nearest newsstand to purchase a few copies of the paper. As she read the article, which was on the front page of Saturday’s paper, she began to dance wildly in the street, holding at least 50 copies of the newspaper. FFFWeek had been “made”.
