Full Figured Fashion Week has become a big stepping stone for many models, bloggers and plus size fashion designers. We wanted to share some of the success stories of a few designers that have participated in the event in the past. It is always good to learn from those that have been there before.
Check out some of the things that past designers had to say about their Full Figured Fashion Week experience below, as well as some words of wisdom for the designers that want to participate in the event in the future.
Designer Evie Foster says: I was a participating designer in FFFWeek in 2012 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Gwen DeVoe and FFFWeek, undoubtedly put me on the map as a designer. The sheer size of FFFWeek’s fan base and their total support of me, is something that I could just not afford to look past. From the networking event to the actual showcase - it was an experience that I will never forget.
My advice for other designer’s participating is to be prepared. When you are 100% prepared and ready, then you can be in the moment and take full advantage of all of the opportunities that are offered to you. There are definitely things I would do differently - like being more prepared and having a photographer of your own to capture all of the moments that are specific to you, as they happen. It is a huge week but the contacts, exposure and friendships that you gain from FFFWeek cannot be found anywhere else. Hit the ground running and savor every moment!
Latrice Mosley-Smith from the hosiery brand “The Ice Cream Lady” says: Participating in FFFWeek 2014 was the best investment I have ever made. The models were gorgeous and professional. The aftermath was overwhelming. My business page saw a huge increase in likes and my website crashed 3 times. I gained new customers and new authorized agents to sell my products nationally and internationally.
My advice for other designers will be to remain professional at all times, you never know who will be watching you. Remember that you are your brand. I am a huge fan and satisfied participant of FFFWeek and I plan to return to FFFWeek in 2015 with my new Leg Luxury line. Stay tuned!!
Tyrell Holmes of the brand “Duke and Dutchess” says: As the finale designer in 2014, I could not have asked for a better way to promote my “Empress Collection” under the design company of Duke & Dutchess. I have to say it was a lot of pressure, but at the end of the day my brand was well received.
It was Gwen Devoe's vision to offer opportunities to freelance designers and provide a platform where they could expose their brand. The opportunity provided me the confidence and capability to give my best and the rest was history. I would recommend Full Figured Fashion Week to any designer that's serious and committed to their talent as a designer and ready to proceed to the next level of their designing career. I would also advice any aspiring designer to invest and expose their brand to a mass market such as Full Figured Fashion Week.
Veronica Lipscomb from “Tru Diva Designs” says: My experience at FFFWeek has been tremendous. The publicity that has come to my site and the Tru Diva brand has been amazing.
My advice to new designers participating will be to bring your everything and give them everything you have. You never know who's going to see your designs and where it may take you. You have to give it your all in the show. Great advice Designers!!
